JLWhitaker Associates - Who We Are


Jan Whitaker, Principal Consultant

Jan established JLWhitaker Associates in Melbourne Australia in March 1995, after fourteen successful years in various management roles in the Maricopa Community College District, Phoenix, Arizona. She holds a BA in Music Education, an MS in Educational Media and has completed post graduate work in Instructional Design and Evaluation. In addition to her consulting work, she is also serves on the boards of:
  • Australian Privacy Foundation (Treasurer and Big Brother Awards Committee),
  • Electronic Services Delivery Forum
and serves on various committees, advisory panels and discussion groups.



Associates

John Burke, Burke Projects Pty Ltd

John and Jan have recently worked together on two major projects: development of a model digital library for the National Information Library Service of Vision Australia, and more recently a sustainability project for Worawa Aboriginal College in Healesville, Victoria. John has a well established background in IT systems planning and analysis after many years with Telstra, and as Director of CIRCIT, an IT research centre that was based in Melbourne, from 1994 to 2000.

Lin Thompson, Lin Thompson and Associates

Lin and Jan have completed many successful projects within the Vocational Educationa and Training (VET) sector, at both the Victorian state and Australian national level. Our work has included design and management of the NET*Working conferences in 1997 and 1999, and creation and evaluation of VET IT research for the Victorian Department of Education and Training. Lin has an extensive background in online education programs, qualitative research, professional development and innovative educational delivery.

George Ivanoff, George Ivanoff Consulting (www.georgeivanoff.com.au)

George is a web designer, specialising in usability and site architecture. George has worked with Jan on the Australian Winter Cereals Molecular Marker Program (AWCMMP) and AGRIGATE, Australian Agricultural Research Gateway. Solo projects have included websites for Engineers Australia - Victoria Division, MOWDOWN Lawnmower Rebate Exchange Scheme and Civil Celebrants Graduate Association (Monash); the University of Melbourne, including designing new sites for the Faculty of Music, International House, Melbourne University Magazine and the Alumni Relations Office. He has also designed sites for Monash University's IAS Project, Simpson Management Pty Ltd and Victorian Landcare Magazine. As well as site design, he has conducted a site assessment for RMIT's Faculty of Engineering, coordinated the University of Melbourne's Web Site Upgrade Project,  and project managed Open Learning Australia's first Virtual Conference and WREDO's bizewest web portal. George is also a published children's author and actor.
